1. Proposer
I, Jan Gray, Neurodivergent Labour membership number 16 wish to propose the following Motion to Neurodivergent Labour at its Founding AGM:
Violation of Human Rights, Cruelty, Exploitation, Violence, Exclusion, Isolation, Psychological Torture and even ABH.
All of these are experienced every day by SEND young people within Medical and Educational Establishments at enormous cost to the taxpayer. Labelling Young People as Mentally Ill is being used to limit their basic Human Rights and remove many protections provided by law.
Parent-Carers are alone when they try to protect their loved ones, can be, and feel, very bullied and even blacklisted instead. Protective bodies close ranks, Charities ignore and even LADO and Ombudsmen often blank their pleas for help.
I propose that Neurodivergent Labour:-
1. Create an independent Union for “Unpaid Parent/Carers” and for those they care for. Through this they can access advice, support and if needed, legal help.
2. Make Funding for both SEND provision and Pupil Premium ring-fenced.
3. Establish multi-agency (re NHS, Schools, Social Services and Mental Health) working groups to focus on joined up action to improve provision and outcomes. This body to be independent, have a good knowledge of the relevant laws and have the power to hold services to account.
